This year, TransScreen Film Festival is once again heading to The Hague! On Sunday, October 5th, TranScreen will be at Filmhuis Den Haag.
Join TranScreen On Tour at Filmhuis Den Haag on Sunday, October 5th, for a full day of events, kicking off at 12:30. The film program features four distinct screenings, beginning with This is Ballroom, a documentary on Rio de Janeiro's vibrant voguing scene. It is followed by ASOG, a Filipino feature about a non-binary teacher on a road trip to a drag pageant through regions impacted by climate change. The lineup also includes a block of five unique Dutch Shorts and concludes with Call Me Agnes, a portrait of an Indonesian woman in the Netherlands whose life is explored through a mix of fiction and musical. Beyond the films, the schedule includes a hands-on workout workshop with Queer Gym at 15:30 and closes with social drinks from 20:30.
This year's selection provides a direct look into specific, powerful stories of identity and community. The films transport you from the dance floors of Brazil to the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, highlighting global queer experiences. The Dutch Shorts block brings the focus to local narratives, exploring themes like the impact of unconditional parental support during a transition in Onvoorwaardelijk, and the importance of safe spaces like in Boxing Against the Binary, which documents Rotterdam's Queer Gym. From feature-length documentaries to experimental shorts woven on a handloom, the program offers a concrete look at the diverse ways trans and gender-diverse people create art, build community, and navigate the world.
