In 2026, TikTok and Instagram are not safe places when you come out. Especially not if you, as a young woman, speak openly in your own podcast about your Christian environment and your coming out.

For two years, production company Clipjesfabriek followed Emily Boone. At the Down The Rabbithole festival, in her church community, and during her podcast 'Het Leermoment' (The Learning Moment). At her peak, she received a million views on TikTok and at her lowest, hundreds of hate messages. Eventually, she ended up at home with a burnout. 'I Am Who I Am' tells the story of someone who makes themselves vulnerable, gets deeply hurt, and almost loses their way.

In the documentary, Emily confronts online haters and the people who love her, soulmates with similar stories and colleagues who can't show understanding, a victim of a conversion therapy camp, but also Christians who believe you have the right to your own gender and sexuality.

'I Am Who I Am' mercilessly exposes how online hate, faith, and identity intersect, and how words can make the difference between being seen and being broken.

Following the screening, there will be a post-film discussion.
