In a sun-drenched corner of New Mexico, the introverted young cowboy Dylan encounters a world he never dared to dream of. At the House of Splendor ranch, inhabited by a self-chosen LGBTQIA+ family, he discovers not only his first love, the radiant Sky, but also himself.

Amidst sparkling ball gowns on horseback, fiery dances under the stars, and bold lip-syncs, a story blossoms that is bursting with life. National Anthem is not a tragic tale about being queer in a conservative environment; it is a dreamy, sexy celebration of identity and love outside the box. Director Luke Gilford, who grew up in a rodeo family himself, shows with a warm perspective that there is indeed a place for drag queens in the arena, glitter on the prairie, and tenderness under a cowboy hat. With a brilliant cast and cinematography that almost lets you smell the dust, this film is a country ode to queer freedom in the American countryside.
