A Good Example for All Parents (and Non-Parents)

According to the Theaterkrant, this original duo gave a confident middle finger to their motherhood doubts in their previous show. This time, Vlamousse takes the stage as, yes: new mothers.

One, Brigitte van Bakel, had a child with her husband completely according to the picture-perfect scenario, and the other, Maya van As, pioneered and inseminated her way as a queer person to a rainbow family. Two completely different stories with one common denominator: the child itself is fantastic, but the whole mess surrounding it is a complete disillusionment.

As children of the '90s, they grew up with rom-coms about romantically conceived children, attachment-free births where no one poops themselves, and men who constantly sigh about how beautiful you are. In short: a lie. It's time for a new example. A good example. So that no one enters parenthood so ill-prepared again.

Mercilessly honest and with great hilarity, Vlamousse tackles the reality of young mothers: the birthing class that said your body is made for childbirth, the idea that breastfeeding is a painless gift of nature, and the conviction that you can only be a real mother if you have given birth yourself.
