'Leaving a Mark' by Canadian-American comedian Ophira Eisenberg is a dark, funny, and deeply personal solo performance.
In September 1944, during Operation Market Garden and the liberation of Nijmegen, a young Allied soldier fell in love with a woman from Nijmegen. That unlikely wartime romance would shape generations. Their youngest of six children, Ophira Eisenberg, now returns to the Netherlands with a performance about the marks we carry - on our bodies, in our families, and throughout history.
By combining personal stories with sharp stand-up, 'Leaving a Mark' is a look at the scars that shape us. From childhood adversities to near-fatal accidents, failed first loves, and a battle with breast cancer; Ophira weaves together a survival story about resilience, humor in the face of pain, and ultimately the absurdity of being human.
The show is different every night through interaction with the audience via a scar competition: 'Scar Wars' (with a prize). A joyful celebration of imperfection and a show that makes people laugh, reflect, and perhaps even show their own scars with a little more pride.
"Ophira is not only incredibly funny and engaging; she also knows how to captivate an audience with her very personal stories."
