New circus that resonates

Great Catch brings you the highlights of Dutch circus: a new generation of circus makers selected by The CircusCoalitie. Because these makers stretch the boundaries and shift the norm. They dare to combine drag with vulnerabilities, bend gender roles in a lighthearted way as only circus can, and celebrate imperfections. Three performances where you can experience the great impact circus can have. With House of Circus, Knot on Hands, and Fenja Barteldres.

"Up-and-coming circus talent in an attractive mix of humor and acrobatics"

- Rosalie Fleuren, Theaterkrant (Great Catch 2024)

HOUSE OF CIRCUS - Spotlight

House of Circus mixes circus and drag, making them a forerunner. With lots of glitter, they touch on vulnerable themes around self-expression, strength, and gender identity. In SPOTLIGHT, they use all their circus skills to claim that coveted spot in the limelight. This pursuit of perfection doesn't come without doubt and bruises, but it does come with a lot of humor, makeup, and show. Let these circus-queens guide you and see what comes of it.

KNOT ON HANDS - Brace for Impact

The trio Knot on Hands doesn't hesitate to reinvent acrobatics time and again. They question (im)possibilities, use the space as if it were a living co-player, and switch roles - including between man and woman. In Brace for Impact, we see them find new ways to move and travel through space. On their quest for balance, they discover what it means to place all their weight in someone else's hands.

FENJA BARTELDRES - Cyrrealism

Fenja Barteldres uses her Cyr wheel in a special way: without screws. This turns the round ring into a completely different apparatus: wobbly and unstable, sometimes strangely bent, other times flexible as a snake, or broken down into separate parts. In Cyrrealism, a whole world unfolds from a single metal wheel in which Fenja must constantly reinvent herself, thereby depicting the imperfections of life.
