Why this film?
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is set at a deserted summer camp where tension, humor, and chaos escalate in the dark. It is a hilarious and bloody ode to classic '80s B-horror films. With a big wink to all the genre's clichés, from dumb teenagers to a mysterious killer, this film delivers pure fun that the entire Pleinbios can laugh and shudder at. The screening will be introduced by Annefleur Schipper and Vera Siemons, known from the Lesbische Liga podcast.
Young, ambitious director Kris gets the chance to breathe new life into the Camp Miasma-Slasher franchise. For inspiration, she seeks out Billy Presley, the reluctant actress who once played the original final girl. What starts as a working relationship grows into an intense, obsessive bond in which both women must face their deepest desires.
Annefleur Schipper (television maker) and Vera Siemons (radio DJ) have been making the award-winning podcast De Lesbische Liga together since 2020, alongside their own work. The central theme is queer joy and the question: how visible are women who are attracted to women in today's (pop) culture? What started as a Dutch podcast has grown into one of the leading queer platforms in Europe, with an active community, sold-out live shows, and an ever-increasing international reach.
