A city is shaped by the people who live, work, and exist within it, by the colorfulness of its population. And Utrecht was and is a diverse city. How a city is then designed and colored partly determines the extent to which different groups of people feel at home and can be themselves.

The queer communities are an important part of our Utrecht society. Utrecht also has a rich, colorful, and sometimes painful queer history. Yet, little of this is reflected, especially in the city's public space. This is not just a missed opportunity. It is especially important now to increase the visibility of the queer communities and queer history.

Therefore, council members Romi Leever and Matthijs Kleij (PRO Utrecht) will present an initiative proposal with suggestions to make the queer communities and queer history of Utrecht more visible. In addition to the proposal's presentation, a panel discussion will take place with people from the community and other stakeholders about the importance of the visibility of queer communities and queer history. The afternoon will be hosted by Miss Ophelia Opal, followed by a social gathering to chat.
