Lydia Tár (masterfully portrayed by Cate Blanchett) is at the helm of a leading orchestra, preparing for a crucial performance of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5, an achievement that symbolizes her artistic peak. For the film, Hildur Guðnadóttir, associate artist of Holland Festival 2026, wrote the original score, in which she combines her signature layered and atmospheric style with elements from the world of classical music.

The powerful and celebrated maestro's carefully built career begins to crumble when her reputation comes under pressure from accusations of abuse of power and #MeToo-related controversy. Tár is not a black-and-white story about cancellation, but a nuanced portrait of power – and its erosion. This is masterfully captured in the score, where Lydia Tár's hallucinations become palpable.

Prior to the screening, there will be an introductory conversation with Hildur Guðnadóttir, where she will talk about what this film means to her and why she chose this particular title.
