About the Show

Dutch songwriter Duncan Laurence will perform at Royal Theatre Carré. During the evening, visitors will be taken into Duncan Laurence's world. Duncan will present himself to the audience in a newly evolved way, with new music inspired by personal experiences and stories.

About Duncan Laurence

Duncan Laurence embodies a modern fairytale. The Dutch songwriter grew up in Hellevoetsluis and went on to achieve international success with his music. In his work, he combines vulnerable honesty with a widely accessible pop sound, allowing intimate emotions to grow into captivating, cinematic pop songs.

"Carré is not just a show to present my new music. It's a moment for all of us to reflect on what has been - through music, through stories - and to look ahead together to what is yet to come. I hope people leave the theatre with minds full of inspiration, and that, for a moment, they can forget the outside world - as it is now..."

With his song Arcade, he won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019, earning the first Eurovision victory for the Netherlands in 44 years. He also made history as the first Eurovision winner in 45 years to enter the American Billboard Hot 100, and the first Dutch singer-songwriter to surpass one billion streams on Spotify. His songs have since been streamed tens of billions of times worldwide. These successes opened the door to the release of his debut album Small Town Boy (2020), followed by Skyboy (2023). Duncan is currently working on his new album, and at Carré he will present new music live for the very first time.

"The past few years have been a whirlwind for me. At times, it felt like I was flying but never landing. Along the way, I sometimes lost sight of myself and my dreams. So for my new album, I went back to the beginning. To the 'small town boy' with such big ambitions and dreams, the ones many believed 'would never come true'. Fortunately, I've always been stubborn in the best way… Performing at Carré has always been one of my greatest wishes. I still remember how I felt the first time I stepped inside that building.
