Welcome to the new parenthood.
We are dehydrated, emaciated, drained. The melody is a baby's cry mixed with the mechanical sound of the breast pump. Like zombies, we stand surrounded by people, yet lonely. It has to be different. It can be different. We do it differently.
Welcome to I'll be your daddy, where life is a party, where your child can crowdsurf on a wave of hands. Together in ecstasy on oxytocin. Pulling all-nighters on the happiness of carrying together. We present to you: the new parenthood.
Anyone fancy a shot of breast milk?
For I'll be your daddy, creators Stella and Lusanne and director Luit have practiced parenthood. For later. For soon. Maybe. Someday. We want it. We think. But we are also afraid. With the desire for, and fear of, a child, we set our egos aside and prepare to care. With full devotion, we create a world where we do see it for ourselves. We explore the outermost limits of what parenthood can be. What does parenthood look like if we dare to think outside the box?
Firma Frictie, consisting of Lusanne Arts and Stella van den Sigtenhorst, creates shameless, tragicomic theater with a touch of self-deprecation. The creators start from their own personal struggles and thereby celebrate discomfort. Current themes are tackled with humor and radical vulnerability.
