A 91-year-old woman has herself frozen. As her body slowly turns ice-cold, her warmest memories flash by. She returns one last time to that final night in her own Amsterdam queer nightclub, Homolulu. Which moments defined her life? And which memories would she want to take with her forever?

Director Ada Ozdogan and writer Vera Morina present the story of Güner Kuban and her nightclub Homolulu: the first lesbian club in Amsterdam, which Kuban opened in 1970 with her great love, Tonny Meerhof. Homolulu grew into a place where queer women could safely dance the night away. When Tonny dies twelve years later, Güner loses her other half, and with her, the soul of Homolulu also disappears. It's time to leave.

Meral Polat steps into the role of an eccentric multi-talent who is far ahead of her time with her worldly view on queer love, Amsterdam's nightlife, and her fondness for the supernatural. She travels through Güner's memories to a unique soundtrack of psychedelic, Anatolian rock music from the seventies and club trance from the nineties. A musical, inimitable trip about radical honesty and what, or who, makes you feel at home.

For director Ada Ozdogan, films are a major source of inspiration, as in her previous productions: from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to vintage Turkish films starring the unsurpassed Türkan Şoray.
