Medium Build’s music has been gaining traction among fans of modern folk and indie for some time. Nick Carpenter, the artist behind the project, made a strong impression with his performance at the Newport Folk Festival. Medium Build is known for sharp, personal lyrics, energetic live shows, and a lo-fi blend of indie, country, and rock. After years of making music with a DIY approach, he achieved a breakthrough with a wider audience through his 2024 album, *Country*.

With his new album, *King of Having Fun*, Medium Build reveals a new, more exuberant side of himself. The album combines driving rock energy with his signature indie-country sound, while Carpenter reflects candidly on love, identity, recovery, and personal growth. While his earlier work often emerged from a place of isolation, this is a distinctly collaborative album that sounds, above all, like a celebration of life.
