Welcome to all the Pleasures: queerness in dance, music and performance
A lot of music has been written about love, eroticism, and sensuality. But queer composers often had to hide their sexual orientation. Even today, being out and queer is not a given. In a time when 'gender madness' has become a common term and the rights of queer and trans people are once again under pressure, even in Western countries, more visibility and presence of queer people on our stages has become even more urgent.
Therefore, this is an evening that bursts with outspoken queerness in dance, music, and performance. An evening where the cello shows its most connecting and versatile side. An evening where boundaries shift. A continuous show with short performances by cellists and dancers throughout the space. When the DJs join the other performers, the Grote Zaal of the Muziekgebouw becomes one big dance floor. The Cello Club Night is a safe space for every visitor, queer and straight alike.
Please note: The Cello Club Night is a standing concert. The balcony is open for people who want to sit down for a while. The view from the balcony is limited in some places.
