For one weekend, you can finally behold the creations of about twenty Roze Stadsdorpers at the 'Art Out of the Closet!' exhibition. The event is initiated and organized by Lianne Postma and Hugo Lingeman.
How did the idea come about?
The idea sparked in their RSA dining club when they discussed how many creative people they knew. Lianne, who had been painting for a while, and Hugo, a photographer, decided it would be wonderful if more Roze Stadsdorpers came 'out of the closet' as artists later in life. A call was placed in the Flamingo magazine a year ago, and they were surprised by the large response. The participants are a mix of pensioners discovering their creative side and artists who have been active from a young age.

What to expect?
About 20-25 enthusiastic artists are participating, showcasing a mix of styles and disciplines. The exhibition is a chance to have fun together, for artists to display and discuss their work, and for visitors to see what others are creating. "Let yourself be surprised by the variety, the different art forms," says Hugo. "I was certainly surprised by how much creativity there is in such a relatively small group. By visiting some of the artists at home, I've already seen very special and beautiful things. You get a glimpse into someone's life and hear a different, often very personal story."

Lianne adds: "I hope it will be a cozy get-together with many lovely visitors. I would say to our Roze Stadsdorpers: come and have a look and see your fellow members in a different way."
Works may be for sale, but it's not required. There is a society downstairs where you can have a drink with visitors.
