What goes into a night out? Together with Peter van der Wal, also known as The Sinful Son, we dive into the people shaping nightlife. How do you design a nightclub? How does a team preserve social safety while always opening possibilities for adventure? How do the values and identity of a club translate into the dancefloor? And what has The Sinful Son learned from capturing the queer community in all its beauty and intensity. His book ‘Beautiful Creatures’ is a stark reminder that being seen is both resistance and celebration. A programme during Amsterdam Dance Event combining a talk, an exhibition and drinks.

About the speakers

Peter van der Wal, also known as The Sinful Son, is a self-taught photographer based in Amsterdam. His interest in photography began at an early age, but it was only after leaving his religious upbringing and entering the queer scene that he fully immersed himself in the medium. Recently he published his book Beautiful Creatures at nai010, and presented his work in a solo-exhibition in the Melkweg Expo.

Bram van Grinsven is an architect at his own bureau Bram van Grinsven. Together with Joaquin Valdes, he is the architect for Club RAUM. Club RAUM is a queer run cultural space in continual movement, evolving around music.
