The film tells the story of Agnes Geneva, an Indonesian trans woman who has built a new life for herself in the Netherlands. When her younger brother unexpectedly arrives, Agnes faces a difficult choice: should she continue living in secret or reveal who she truly is?
Blending fiction, documentary and musical elements, the film explores themes of gender identity, family, migration and self-acceptance. At the same time, it is a story about friendship, chosen family, love and finding a place where you can truly be yourself.
The evening opens with a live performance by Agnes, followed by the film screening and a Q&A with Agnes, director Daniel Donato and the crew. We will close the evening with drinks at the Q-Factory Café.
This special screening is made possible in part by the Trut Fund, near/by film, and Q-Factory.
