It has been four years since Marie Van Uytvanck and Amber Piddington first stood on a stage together, during the preliminary rounds of Sound Track in 2019. What started as an emergency solution (the guitarist with whom Marie was supposed to compete had called in sick) worked so well that they decided to continue together as Kids With Buns, named after the Gorillaz song ‘Kids with Guns’.
Their melancholic bedroom pop songs about what occupies their minds quickly found an audience. The first singles ‘1712’ and ‘Bad Grades’ were well-received, in August 2020 they reached the semi-finals of Humo’s Rock Rally, and in January 2021 they won De Nieuwe Lichting from Studio Brussel. At the same time, they stayed true to themselves. Kids With Buns does what it does best: intimate indie rock, carried by Amber's melodic guitars and Marie's deep voice. The result: sad bangers you can dance to during a mental breakdown in the bathroom.
