Chantal Janzen returns to the theater after ten years as Sally Bowles in a daring new version of Cabaret!
In 1930s Berlin, a mysterious master of ceremonies welcomes you to the dark but decadent Kit Kat Club, where Sally is the star. In the dilapidated club, freedom reigns, dreams are dreamt, and love is celebrated in all its facets. All this while outside, the danger of rising fascism slowly seeps into the club, becoming increasingly threatening. With a top cast under the direction of the award-winning Daria Bukvić, this iconic musical gets a raw edge and new significance. Moving, sexy, bold, and witty.
"One of the reasons we want to bring this show right now is because the theme of polarization is very current."
— Chantal Janzen
Step into the turbulent Berlin of the 1930s, where nightlife glitters while the world outside grows darker. In the dark but decadent Kit Kat Club, the mysterious master of ceremonies, Emcee, welcomes you to a world of music, dance, and temptation. Here, singer Sally Bowles shines: free-spirited, seductive, and determined to live as if there is no tomorrow. Everything changes when the young American writer Clifford Bradshaw enters her life.
What begins as a fiery love story unfolds into a poignant mosaic of stories about hope, desire, and loss. As the danger of rising fascism advances and becomes increasingly threatening, landlady Fräulein Schneider and her Jewish lover Herr Schultz also struggle with their future. Between personal dreams and political reality, every choice becomes fraught. Can love endure when society is falling apart?
Cabaret is a true classic, full of beautiful songs, sizzling dance scenes, black humor, and poignant beauty. A performance that makes you laugh, touches you, and makes you think – about freedom, looking away, and humanity in inhuman times.
