Striptopia is 90 minutes of pure energy and juiciness. Here, stigmas are broken and the art of pole dance, drag, stripping, and performance is exuberantly celebrated. It completely turns your idea of adult entertainment on its head. The idea originated as a graduation project from the Design Academy Eindhoven by Maggie Saunders. Built on honesty, safety, inclusivity, and fun, this reinvented strip club can now be visited for the first time in The Hague. Come join! Come enjoy.
Striptopia is the most inclusive strip club there is. Not only heterosexual men, but also women, queers, couples, and free spirits come face to face with four outspoken international performers. This makes strip club culture something to celebrate, question, and re-examine with many more people. It's sexy, it's exciting, it's stimulating, and it's desperately needed in the world of strip clubs.
Founder Maggie worked in strip clubs herself and visited dozens of clubs worldwide. She saw beauty and strength, but also racism, body shaming, non-payment, and little care for performers. Her motivation for Striptopia was simple: to create the club she herself was missing. From the Down The Rabbit Hole festival to the queer club Tilla Tec: everywhere Striptopia manages to make people look at a strip club differently forever.
Maggie Saunders was born in the United States but now lives and works in Eindhoven. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in furniture design from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a Master's in Social Design from Design Academy Eindhoven. She worked in a strip club for three years and visited dozens of strip clubs worldwide. Now she has her own inclusive pop-up strip club with which she introduces international artists to the Dutch public and opens conversations about strip culture, stigmas, and sex work.
This inclusive strip show is part of the S*XPLORATION lineup, where we celebrate s*x and explore how it can heal, liberate, and give us pleasure in times of censorship.
