The Salon of Queer Indoctrinations is returning to WORM for its sixth iteration! We are trying to shake things up this time and work with artists who wish to experiment with performance in ways that push their practice into new directions. More than ever before, we wish to maintain the Salon as a space where artists can try new things out, be silly, take risks, and, in the true spirit of queer culture, FAIL spectacularly.

For this reason, we’ve teamed up with three punk queers (or queer punkers?) from within WORM’s wider ecology to curate an evening of questioning, experimenting, and collective play. Together, we will explore the long-standing connection and intersection of queer and punk culture.

So, wear your combat boots – or not, grab a drink from the bar, and converse with us through your presence, your attention, and participation!

Artists

Artists who will be sharing work with us on the evening are, so far:

Lui Surreal (they/he)
Centering poetry and a Punk DIY ethos, Lui Surreal works at the intersection of Visual Art and Music. They use performance and cinema to make internal processes visible, exploring themes of love and addiction while translating personal struggles into more accessible, relatable, and urgent languages.

Saddy (they/she)
Saddy is an illustrator, zine maker, improviser, singer, angry woman, bad writer, trash goblin, court jester and factotum.

Laariekoek (she/her)
Lara de Moor is a social designer, verzameLAAR, and all-round artist working on vastly different projects, where connection, spontaneity, and change come together. With her “I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do that” approach, curiosity and play make her art come in all different shapes and sizes. In her work, collecting and temporariness find each other in an iterative and playful process, always leading to something.

Hoisting a flag FOR THE WEIRDOS AND FREAKS, Lui’s multi-disciplinary practice aims to unify those that push against the grain of society’s mundane, logistical, aestheticised commodification of worlds, bodies and people.
