We call for solidarity in defense of trans students’ right to life and education!
To support Hande Kader Solidarity, we are organizing a solidarity dinner. All proceeds from the dinner will be donated to Hande Kader Solidarity. Their volunteers will also join the event via video conference. Our menu will be vegetarian/vegan.
About Hande Kader Solidarity
Hande Kader Solidarity provides scholarships to dozens of trans university students in Turkey. Due to the transfobia, violence, oppression, and marginalization faced by trans people, many students are unable to continue their education, are forced to drop out, and are pushed onto the streets.
Composed entirely of volunteers, Hande Kader Solidarity builds a vital network of solidarity to defend trans students’ right to education and, through its scholarships, offers trans students the chance to breathe and carry on.
The solidarity initiative is named after Hande Kader, a trans woman who was forced to leave her university education; she was kidnapped, raped, and brutally murdered in Istanbul in August 2016, after which her body was burned.
Together, we are stronger through our cross border solidarity.
