A Cozy Music Afternoon for Rainbow Seniors
The Rainbow Living Room Dance Palace is a small-scale gathering (max 12 seniors) in a warm and safe living-room atmosphere. This 1.5-hour music afternoon is specially designed for LGBTIQ+ people aged 55+ and is led by a Platendraaier (record spinner).
Dancing and music are used to foster contact and connection. It's a low-threshold, welcoming event where you can listen to each other's musical favorites, share memories sparked by the music, and enjoy dancing in a cozy and festive setting.
During the Rainbow editions, all the rainbow classics are played: from Little Richard, Judy Garland, and Sylvester, to Ramses Shaffy, and from disco and the quickstep to merengue. In a community where standard male-female roles don't apply, ballroom dancing also gets a new interpretation as all letters (LGBTIQ+) dance with each other.
