Violinist Pieter van Loenen doesn't think so, but he is certain that the life story of a composer influences their music. In 'Queer Notes', he delves into the world of composers who had to hide a part of themselves from the public.

Together with pianist Tobias Borsboom, Van Loenen performs a program featuring music by composers who were queer. From the heart-wrenching melodies of Tchaikovsky to the vibrant rhythms of Bernstein, and the powerful works of Ethel Smyth and Francis Poulenc. This concert is not just a musical performance, but also a storytelling journey that sheds light on the often-unseen personal histories behind the masterpieces.
