Being (queer bodies) together is a monthly evening of bodywork, sharing practices and simply, being together. Each evening has a theme which we explore together. You are encouraged to participate in the whole series, but are also welcome to join for one evening.
The evenings are hosted by Lux Sauer (he/him) and Josje Fens (she/they). They both have a fascination for bodywork. Lux as a dancer, choreographer, somatic practitioner and student of Body-Mind Centering®, Josje as a massage therapist, teacher and student of Cranio Sacral Therapy.
Lux: „I am fascinated by how everything has its place and function in the body. There is no hierarchy or control system. But it is a huge collective collaboration with different responsibilities“
They have a desire to share their knowledge and connect with other queer people through somatic bodywork and movement. That is how these evenings came to life.
Josje: "I am fascinated by what your body tells you when you take the time, slow down and learn to listen to it. Letting these stories and feelings emerge is so beautiful."
Come and join us to connect, explore and be together.
Participation is based on donation. For orientation, a fair fee to ask would be around 40 euro for one session. We ask you to estimate for yourself what you can donate according to your income situation. Here are three categories as orientation:
Payment is via QR-code or in cash.
The sessions take place in a studio on the third floor. Due to the building’s internal staircases, our sessions are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible at the moment. We acknowledge this limitation and are seeking ways to make future editions more accessible. If you have any specific access needs or questions, please get in touch with the organizers.
Companions/assistants are very welcome, including service dogs. We welcome babies to our space.
The sessions are offered in English, with Dutch, German, French translation on request. Our events are generally spoken in English.
The focus of these sessions is to raise awareness of our body's intelligence. To this end, we introduce and use different types of touch to increase awareness, stimulate different body parts and connect with others. This includes self-touch and touching other bodies. Before we use touch, the facilitators will describe its quality and intention and show an example. Clear rules and set agreements will be established before touch is introduced, given and received. There will be alternatives provided (e.g. self touch, observing the exercise).
Please support yourself by attending to the personal care that you require and by utilising the support around you. You are encouraged to bring an accountability buddy, or connect with someone during the session and practice together afterwards.
We offer various exercises in which participants can experience the topic on different levels. We also offer different ways of verbal exchange, so that we can express ourselves in a large group or a smaller, more intimate one. You can always choose to join or observe.
