South African singer-songwriter Bongeziwe Mabandla stands out with his agile voice, which effortlessly shifts from low to a velvety falsetto. Based in Johannesburg, Mabandla is known for his unique blend of afro-folk, soul, and electronica. He sings primarily in Xhosa, one of the official languages of South Africa and Zimbabwe.

In his home country, he was previously nominated for the prestigious SAMA (South African Music Awards), and his music video for the song Bawo Bam was also nominated for the Capital City Black Film Awards.

At LantarenVenster, Bongeziwe Mabandla will perform music from his latest album AmaXesha (2024) and new work still in progress.
