- What You See opening night | Irmãs Brasil
Raw and poetic opening of the 8th edition. The Brazilian trans twin sisters and theater duo Irmãs Brasil open What You See with their confrontational performance Eunuchs.
The Brazilian trans twin sisters and theater duo Irmãs Brasil open What You See with their confrontational performance Eunuchs. In it, they reflect on transition technologies, gender performance, and historical castration processes. As wild horses, mermaids, and nymphs, they travel through time and space, while their bodies are subjected to a ritual of death and resurrection. They take the audience into the struggles and desires of their bodies. The Dutch premiere of this raw and poetic work celebrates collectivity and embraces the risk of a visible existence.
The performance is embedded in a broader program full of reflections on the individual in relation to the collective. Featuring a living exhibition by Robin Nimanong, the expo The Trans Yearbook, and moves from the Utrecht Ballroom Scene. The legendary Amber Vineyard hosts the evening, so don't miss it!

"Not enough is said about its crafty ingenuity nor its untampered boldness. […] Name a more iconic duo. I'll wait."
