De Zaanse Regenboog has announced that Zaanse Regenboogweek will run from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 14, 2026.
The week's theme, "United We Shine," is a direct nod to the event's dual purpose: it's both a celebration of queer identity and a deliberate stand against social polarization. The organization emphasizes that ZaanPride serves as a protest against division, aiming to strengthen community bonds in the region.
More Than Just a Parade
The ten-day festival is designed to be a comprehensive cultural event, not just a weekend party. Planned events for Regenboogweek include:
- A film night in partnership with TranScreen at Filmtheater de Fabriek.
- An ABBA Tribute band performance at De Bull.
- An exhibition and story time at the local library (De Bieb).
- A dedicated youth party at De Kade.
- The annual Bike Pride Ride through the area.
The Main Event: ZaanPride Day
The festival will culminate on Saturday, June 13, 2026, with the main ZaanPride celebration. It will feature the Zaanse Regenboogparade, a vibrant Queermarkt showcasing local makers and organizations, and festivities centered around the Zaantheater and the Damstraatje.
By establishing itself as the Pride for the Zaanstreek, the event provides crucial visibility and a gathering point outside of the Randstad's major hubs. The organizers note that with roughly 10% of the local population identifying within the LGBTQ+ community, a dedicated, visible, and socially relevant Pride is not a luxury but a necessity.
Get Involved
As the event is still in the planning stages, organizers are actively seeking volunteers to help bring ZaanPride 2026 to life. For more information on the program as it develops or to inquire about volunteering, visit the official website.
