Actor Corey Parker Dies Following Cancer Diagnosis
Corey Parker, an actor and acting coach whose roles included a memorable turn in the sitcom "Will & Grace," has died at the age of 60. His aunt, Emily Parker, confirmed to US media that he passed away on March 5, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee, following a diagnosis of metastatic cancer.
For many in the LGBTQ+ community, Parker is best remembered as Josh, the earnest, environmentally-focused boyfriend of Grace Adler (played by Debra Messing). Though he appeared in only a couple of episodes, his role was part of the fabric of a series that played a significant part in increasing queer visibility on television in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
A Public Health Journey
Parker was open about his health condition, sharing updates through a GoFundMe campaign initially set up to assist with medical costs. The campaign page noted that the diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic adenocarcinoma was made following a hip surgery. In his updates, Parker chronicled the progression of the disease and the treatments he underwent.
In his final post on February 17, 2026, he described the challenges he faced, including damage to his esophagus and speech from radiation therapy. He also expressed his gratitude for the support he received.
"I can't thank you enough for all the love and care," Parker wrote. "Your donations have made such a big difference in our lives."
A Career On-Screen and Off
Born in New York City, Parker began his acting career as a child. His filmography from the 1980s and 90s includes roles in the horror film "Friday the 13th Part V" and television series such as "Thirtysomething" and "The Love Boat: The Next Wave." His last credited roles were in 2017.
From 2000, Parker transitioned into a successful career as an acting coach, where he became a highly influential mentor. His students, who include winners of major acting awards, paid tribute to him on his fundraising page.
"Corey has a unique talent—he reminds us that we are enough," they wrote. "Through his guidance, countless actors not only honed their craft but also rediscovered their self-confidence. For years, Corey was our cheerleader, mentor, and inspiration, shaping our careers and transforming our lives."
