Researchers at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and GGD Amsterdam have launched a new study to gain a deeper understanding of sexual experiences, pleasure, and health within the community of men who have sex with men. The project invites participation from men, queer men, trans men, and trans women over the age of 18 who are sexually active with men.

The primary goal of the research is to identify factors that contribute to positive sexual experiences, as well as to understand the challenges some individuals face regarding their sexual well-being. According to the organisers, the insights gathered from this anonymous survey will be used to directly improve the information, support, and healthcare services available to the community in the Netherlands.

How to Participate

The study is conducted through an online questionnaire that can be completed at any time. The organisers have provided the following details for potential participants:

  • Eligibility: Open to men, queer men, trans men, and trans women aged 18 or older who have sex with men.
  • Time Commitment: The survey takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
  • Anonymity: Participation is completely voluntary and anonymous.
  • Incentive: As a thank you for their time, participants will be entered into a draw to win one of eight gift vouchers, each valued at €30.

A Note on Language

The questionnaire is available only in Dutch.
Our editor's experience was however that it consists primarily of multiple-choice questions and checkboxes, requiring minimal active writing. qMeet suggests that non-native speakers can comfortably complete the survey using online translation tools like Google Translate. It can also serve as a practical Dutch language exercise for those looking to improve their skills.
