Lo Colby, a tech industry professional and content creator originally from Hawaii, was named Miss International Queen USA 2026 in a ceremony in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The victory on March 27 secures her place as the United States' representative at the global Miss International Queen pageant in Thailand, widely recognized as the world's most prominent beauty pageant for transgender women.

Beyond the pageant stage, Colby has built a career in technology while also working as a performer and developing a significant online presence. Her win came after a week-long competition where she stood out among contestants from across the country. Zhane' Dawlingz of Ohio was named first runner-up, with Ziena Morales of California as the second runner-up.

A Platform for Empowerment

Following her win, Colby stated her intention to focus her reign on the economic empowerment of the transgender community. She highlighted the persistent challenges many face in securing stable employment and fair wages, a mission she feels personally connected to.

“Transgender women often face obstacles in the workplace and experience wage inequality,” Colby said in a statement. “I know what it feels like to walk into a room and be judged before you even speak. Our resilience, empathy, and adaptability are strengths that others shouldn't underestimate.”

Colby's victory occurred just ahead of the International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31. She used the occasion to share a message of solidarity and resilience.

"Living authentically takes courage, and today I celebrate every trans person who shows up for who they truly are... To those who don't know us: don't believe the image the world is painting of us. We are intelligent, capable, and incredible people. We exist simply to be ourselves. Protect the dolls. Hire the dolls. Love the dolls."

Looking Ahead to Thailand

Colby will now begin preparations for the international competition, where she will succeed the reigning Miss International Queen, Midori Monét, who was also from the USA. She aims to bring what she calls the "aloha spirit of Hawaii" to the global stage.

Her win provides a moment of positive visibility for the transgender community in the United States at a time of heightened political debate and legislative challenges targeting trans rights. Colby's focus on economic opportunity seeks to address tangible issues affecting the community's well-being and security.
