Madonna has confirmed her fifteenth studio album, titled Confessions II, will be released on July 3, 2026. The project serves as a direct sequel to her 2005 global hit, Confessions on a Dance Floor, and sees her reunite with producer Stuart Price.

The announcement solidifies years of speculation and marks a significant return for the artist to pure, unadulterated dance music. The original Confessions on a Dance Floor was a cultural touchstone, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community, providing a non-stop, disco-infused soundtrack to club nights around the world. The new album is expected to follow a similar format, with tracks designed to flow into one another like a continuous DJ set.

The project also signals Madonna's return to Warner Records, the label where she began her career and released her most formative work. In a statement, she described the move as feeling "like home," adding it was time to get "Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor, Back to where it all began!"

The Road to the Dance Floor

Work on the album began following the conclusion of her successful Celebration Tour, which saw Stuart Price return as musical director. The collaboration on the tour reportedly rekindled their creative partnership. Recording sessions took place primarily in London throughout 2024 and 2025.

In a shared "manifesto" for the album's creation, Madonna and Price described the dance floor as a "ritualistic space" for connection and release. "To rave is an art," the statement reads. "It's about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people. Sound, light, and vibration... Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time."

Personal Themes and Confirmed Tracks

While the album is rooted in dance, it will also explore deeply personal themes. During a podcast interview, Madonna revealed that two songs, "Fragile" and "Forgive Yourself," address her complex relationship with her late brother, Christopher Ciccone, who passed away in 2024. Ciccone, who was openly gay, had a public and often strained relationship with his sister, making these tracks a potentially poignant reflection on family, forgiveness, and loss.

The album was officially announced on April 15, 2026, after Madonna cleared her social media profiles and updated her website with new imagery. A preview of the opening track, "I Feel So Free," was released alongside the announcement.

Confirmed tracks for Confessions II so far include:

  • "I Feel So Free"
  • "Forgive Yourself"
  • "Fragile"
  • "One Step Away"

Confessions II will be available on CD, vinyl, cassette, and all major streaming platforms upon its release.
