NEW YORK – The Tribeca Film Festival will host the world premiere of Something You Should Know About Me, a romantic comedy from first-time feature director Andy Fidoten. The film is a notable 'T4T' (trans-for-trans) production, featuring trans talent in key roles both in front of and behind the camera.
Described as a sweet and irreverent story, the film follows Al, a trans cartoonist navigating a classic rom-com dilemma: confessing his feelings to his best friend before a rival wins their affection. The narrative is presented through a unique hybrid of live-action and animation, reflecting the protagonist's artistic perspective.
Creative Team and Cast
The project gains a significant profile from executive producer Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix), who has become a key supporter of trans-led projects in film and television. Her involvement continues her work in championing authentic storytelling within the community. Director Andy Fidoten has built his work around celebrating trans joy and sensibility, making this his feature-length debut.
In keeping with its T4T ethos, the film's three main roles are played by trans actors. The lead is portrayed by EJ Marcus, a transmasculine and non-binary comedian who first gained a following on TikTok. He is joined by Morgan Sullivan, an actor and activist, and Sydney Mae Diaz, who previously appeared in the 2021 queer series Generation.
Festival Premiere and What's Next
The premiere at Tribeca provides a major platform for a film centered on trans experiences outside the usual narratives of trauma. While details on a wider European or Dutch release have not yet been announced, its festival debut marks a positive step for trans representation in independent cinema. The film will be screened as part of the festival's official selection in June.
