AMSTERDAM – The Pride Photo Foundation has announced the 12 photographers selected for its 2026–2027 collection. Their work will be featured in a year-long outdoor exhibition set to tour nine locations across the Netherlands, making contemporary queer photography accessible to a wide public audience.
The exhibition, titled 'Queer Radiance, In Common Light', will launch at the end of May 2026 and continue its tour through May 2027. A featured presentation is planned for Amsterdam West during July and August 2026, aligning with the city's annual Pride events.
A Record of Global Engagement
The selection was made from a record pool of talent. Following an open call in late 2025, the foundation received 935 submissions from 66 countries, an increase of over 18 percent compared to the previous year. Organisers noted a particularly strong response from photographers in South America and a notable rise in submissions from across the African continent, reflecting a growing global urgency and engagement in visual storytelling from LGBTQ+ communities.
The final collection of 12 photographic series explores a broad spectrum of queer life, addressing themes of identity, family, memory, resistance, and belonging. The works combine to form a nuanced portfolio of personal and collective narratives from around the world.
International Jury and Vision
The selection process was conducted by an international jury of five members, each bringing a distinct perspective from different cultural and artistic contexts. The 2026 jury was chaired by Mackenzie Calle and included the following members:
- Alexandra Obochi
- Kary Kwok
- Marwan Kaabour
- J.G. Basdew
The full list of photographers and details on the nine tour locations are expected to be released closer to the exhibition's opening date. The annual Pride Photo exhibition remains a significant event in the Dutch cultural calendar for showcasing international photography focused on sexual and gender diversity.
