The three-day conference is positioned as a central forum for dialogue and strategy, bringing together hundreds of activists, policymakers, and academics from around the world. The event aims to address pressing issues facing the global LGBTQIA+ community and foster collaboration on advancing equal rights.
The opening session on Wednesday, August 5, will be hosted by Dutch drag superstar Envy Peru, UK Black Pride co-founder Lady Phyll, and activist Camiel Welling. The program includes addresses from prominent Dutch political figures, including Prime Minister Rob Jetten and Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema.
International perspectives will be provided by keynote speakers Tamara Adrián, a legislator and trans activist from Venezuela, and Nayyab Ali, a leading intersex and trans rights activist from Pakistan. Their contributions are expected to ground the conference in the realities of the fight for equality in Latin America and South Asia.
The program also includes a segment with LGBTQIA+ athletes discussing their experiences in competitive sports and a panel where youth delegates from the Model United Nations will present their priorities to representatives from the UN, ILGA World, and the South African government.
A Focus on Eight Core Themes
The conference's more than 60 breakout sessions and panel discussions will be structured around eight key themes, developed by a national and international advisory board:
- Rights & Governance: Examining the legal frameworks and political battles for protection and equality worldwide.
- Health & Wellbeing: Focusing on physical autonomy, mental health, and dismantling stigma in healthcare.
- Heritage & Culture: Exploring the art, history, and cultural expressions that define and unite the community, with a special focus on the Global South and East.
- Resources & Leadership: Addressing economic exclusion and promoting entrepreneurship within the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Political Leadership: Analyzing the role of political will in securing and codifying human rights.
- InterPride & Pride Connections: A dedicated track for Pride organizers to network, share best practices, and build solidarity.
- Religion & Spirituality: Fostering dialogue on creating inclusive spaces within diverse religious and spiritual traditions.
- Workplace Pride: Discussing how inclusive leadership can drive resilience, innovation, and safety in professional environments.
Scholarship Programme to Ensure Global Voices
To ensure that activists from less-resourced regions can participate, the organization has established the WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 Scholarship Programme. The initiative will provide financial support for travel and accommodation to more than 150 activists, aiming to include crucial voices that might otherwise not be heard.
The conference is a significant part of WorldPride Amsterdam, which also marks the 25th anniversary of marriage equality in the Netherlands. The full program and additional information are available on the official conference website.
