AMSTERDAM – For those in the LGBTQ+ community looking to start a family through co-parenting, making the right connection is the first crucial step. To help facilitate this, the organization Meer dan Gewenst is hosting a speed-dating event specifically for prospective co-parents from the Randstad area on Sunday, 1 November 2026.

The event will take place in Amsterdam, with the exact location provided to ticket holders. It offers a structured and focused environment for individuals and couples to meet others who share their desire to have children. The afternoon is designed to kickstart conversations that could lead to forming a family.

How the Event Works

The main speed-dating portion runs from 13:30 to 16:15. Participants will engage in a series of short, nine-minute conversations with other prospective parents. To make potential partnerships more practical, attendees will be grouped by their home province: Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland, or Utrecht.

The goal of these brief meetings is to find a potential match for a follow-up conversation. As the organizers note, the idea is to meet 'speedy' but then proceed 'very slow' to get to know each other thoroughly. After the formal sessions, a borrel will be held until 17:00, providing a more relaxed setting for further conversation.

Who Should Attend?

This event is specifically for people who have a clear intention to become co-parents. Meer dan Gewenst emphasizes that it is not intended for those seeking a donor or who are still exploring different family structures. The organization hosts separate informational meetings for those in the orientation phase.

A few key guidelines are in place:

  • Age Limits: For the person who intends to be the biological parent, the age limit for men is 53 and for women is 41. This is extended to 45 for women who have frozen their eggs.
  • Couples: Couples are welcome and should purchase two tickets. They will be scheduled to have their conversations together.
  • Gendered Terms: The organizers acknowledge that using terms like "man" and "woman" for ticketing is not ideal. They state this is done for the practical purpose of balancing attendees for conception, clarifying they mean "person born with a uterus" or "person born with sperm."

Registration and Practical Details

Tickets cost €25 per person and must be purchased online. Sales will close on Wednesday, 28 October. To help ensure a balance of attendees, ticket availability for certain groups may be paused periodically. A waitlist is available for those who find their category is sold out.

Important: Purchasing a ticket is not the final step. All attendees must confirm their participation via an email that will be sent approximately one week before the event. Failure to confirm will result in forfeiting your spot without a refund. This policy is in place to prevent no-shows and ensure everyone has people to meet.
