Odessa is a well-known ecstatic dance community in Amsterdam, offering a unique experience on a replica of a 16th-century Ukrainian merchant ship. This floating venue provides a magical and conscious space for free-form dance and self-expression.
The Experience: Participants are invited to dance freely without conversation, allowing for a deeper connection with the music and oneself. The events typically feature a state-of-the-art Funktion One sound system, enhancing the immersive musical journey. It is a safe and respectful space for all, regardless of age, background, or dance experience.
Key Guidelines: To maintain the conscious and sober nature of the dance, there are a few core guidelines: no talking on the dance floor, no alcohol or drugs, and no shoes. Dancers are encouraged to move barefoot to foster a better connection to the ground.
Community and Atmosphere: Odessa aims to cultivate a like-minded community centered around consciousness, art, and dance. The venue serves vegan food and only non-alcoholic drinks, promoting a "natural high." Reviews from participants are generally positive, often highlighting the welcoming vibe, the quality of the music, and the unique setting of the boat.
