This workshop is for every female and queer person (identifying other than cis men) who is curious about Rope Play (Shibari), the art of rope, and its dynamics. It’s an opportunity to explore, learn, and practice rope play in an informed, consensual, and safe environment. Rope play can be used as a tool to come into a closer connection with your body, your desires, and a deeper understanding of yourself.
We will start with the communication of consent and practice this in various ways. Defining consent isn’t just about saying “yes” or “no”—it’s about clear communication of your desires and boundaries. We'll explore how to negotiate your wishes with your play partner to find a ‘hell yes’ before you start, and how to ensure that everyone feels safe, comfortable, and empowered throughout the experience.
Rope play is an intimate practice. As a Rigger (one tying) and Bunny (being tied), you can come together in a meditative state. Being in total surrender to your play partner can feel incredibly empowering. We teach you how the dynamic in Rope Play can offer different ways to create play, and how you as a rigger can use your creativity to create different styles of ecstasy in Rope Play.
During rope play, it is extra important to communicate what you are feeling, not only to feel safe but also to be safe. While fun, rope play can be dangerous if done incorrectly. To avoid a long lecture, we will alternate theory and practice. Before every exercise, we explain the risks involved and teach you what it feels like when something could be wrong. This way, the bunny learns how to communicate this, and the rigger learns how to avoid any physical damage.
You will be welcomed in our sacred home temple, a cozy and playful atmosphere we designed and built ourselves. We work with a small group (max 8 participants) for a more personalized experience. This workshop is set up for singles, but you are also welcome to come with your play partner(s) or loved one(s). The exercises are non-sexual, and there will be no complete nudity.
Please wear comfortable and fitted clothing.
