The unsuccessful cabaret duo The Sorrow of Drenthe has split up. Tim and Albert go their separate ways – or well, Tim suddenly dies. And now Albert is forced to go solo.
Albert Meijer (winner of the jury and audience award at the Amsterdam Student Cabaret Festival 2024) presents Tim in a bag, an ode to unconventional mourning. He creates songs and stories about death, grief, loss, and the strange but constant urge to make jokes about it. What do you do when your best friend suddenly dies? What does a queer funeral look like? And how on earth do you choose a beautiful coffin?
De Theaterkrant called Albert "simultaneously disarmingly funny and immensely sad." His debut performance Tim in a bag is abrasive and touching, working your laugh muscles just as hard as your tear ducts.
