The Walk of Pride is a monumental route with more than 50 tiles honoring national and international individuals who have contributed to LGBTQIA+ emancipation. The route runs from Dam Square to the Homomonument.
The unveiling during WorldPride provides an excellent opportunity to highlight IHLIA's rich international collection, focusing on the eighteen international individuals commemorated by the Walk of Pride.
The exhibition centers around four themes: the power of the written word, political and social activism, and inclusive religion. Together, they show that the fight for equality and equal rights is hard-won.
The intention is to expand the route in the future with new names of (inter)national pioneers. The first names are therefore a starting point. In the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to suggest names of people they believe deserve a place on the Walk of Pride.
