New Year's with Rikkert is a personal and sharp reflection on 2026 by award-winning theater maker, singer, and community builder Rikkert van Huisstede. Together with musicians Shaynah and Yung-Tuan Ku, he takes you on a versatile comedy show.

This year, Rikkert and his girlfriend had a second child, his nephew left on a navy ship to the North Pole, and his astrologer told him it was time to stop pleasing others. While trying to build his own home (including an emergency kit), he observes a world that is increasingly crumbling. While the Netherlands has its first homosexual prime minister, the first queer refugees from the U.S. are reporting to our asylum centers... As Rikkert speaks out about the world, he wonders: when do you speak up? And when do you hold back?

You'll join a cozy evening that starts light-heartedly but cuts deeper and deeper. Funny, musical, and confrontational, but above all, healing: New Year's with Rikkert is an invitation to come together and find connection. Because that is what the world needs most right now.
