BARE: A Pop Opera is a musical set in a Catholic high school, revolving around the emotions of teenagers struggling with their sexual identity, religion, and the expectations of others. The story follows two students, Jason and Peter, who are in a secret relationship. While Peter openly struggles with his homosexuality, Jason fears the social and religious consequences of their relationship as he tries to conform to the expectations of his surroundings. In addition to Jason and Peter's story, other characters are followed who are all fighting their own battles with identity and acceptance.

The central themes of BARE are the difficult search for self-acceptance, hiding one's true feelings, the impact of religion, and the pressure of societal norms. BARE has both a tragic and a hopeful ending. The story comes to a tragic conclusion when Jason, unable to accept his feelings and identity, ultimately loses his life. Peter is left with a sense of loss, but also with the lesson about the importance of being honest with oneself and others.
