Author Fien Gerver-Beets presents her new book What Family Is. How do you fulfill your desire to have children when the path to parenthood is not straightforward?

This candid and inspiring collection of interviews features various prospective parents sharing their personal stories. They discuss their choices in shaping their families and the laws and regulations they encountered. Two donors, a (prospective) donor father, and a surrogate mother also share their perspectives, offering a unique insight into their roles, motivations, and the significance of their contribution to new life.

During the presentation, the author will explain how the book came to be. There will be an opportunity to meet others, have a drink, and purchase the book. The event is open to everyone: queer (prospective) parents, people exploring family formation, and anyone interested in diverse family structures in the Netherlands.

Children are of course welcome! We have a foosball table, shuffleboard, and coloring pages available.

Language: Dutch (no need to be perfect! We'll figure it out together.)
