A day of workshops to create your own drag persona, followed by an evening party with performances and a DJ.

The Gender Playground

The Gender Playground is opening for the first time in Leiden! Create your own gender clown or drag persona and learn how to perform from an actual drag house. Work with thrifted materials to design your look with the help of our lovely clothing-fairies and their sewing machines. Get advice from our amazing hairdresser, who will offer tips for genderbending any possible hairstyle. Visit our talented make-up artist at the beauty station to make your persona stand out on stage!

Workshop I by Haus of 4D

Are you new to drag? Do you want to perform, but don't know where to begin? Then this drag workshop is just for you! Shezo Xtra and Sho No Mercii are two drag performers who will teach you how to construct an idea and make that into reality! We will help you create a drag persona and performance for the party in the evening! What can you expect? We will help you put together a complete performance, including theatrics, dance, design and makeup tips, as well as anything else you need for your drag debut! We will practice using some exercises to warm up that will also help you prepare and bring out your inner fabulous performer!

Workshop II by the Collective

Building your character, building your look, that's what it is all about!

In this open workshop space you can meet with specialists and get help with various aspects of creating a look. Our hairdresser can help or advise you on gender-bending your hairstyle. Two lovely clothing fairies with sewing machines and endless creativity can help you change, adjust, make or create the perfect outfit from thrifted clothes and fabrics. Of course, we also offer a make-up station where you can experiment on each other or yourself with our beautiful and talented artist to help if needed.

The Party at Night

At this titillating gender-clowning party we invite everyone - also those who didn’t attend the workshops - to embrace their gender expression and shine bright. Although we advocate freeing the nipple, we ask you to please keep your genitalia covered as this is a vanilla event in a vanilla setting and location.

Drag MC Redda will announce the workshop guests and their performances (it is not mandatory to perform), and will perform as well. We arranged for a DJ who is well-known at this location to play some amazing danceable hits!
