Songs from a Crime Scene is an intimate solo performance in which a series of vintage suitcases are opened one by one, revealing songs, arias, and monologues about love, exile, belonging, and the invisible laws that govern our lives. Each suitcase carries a different voice: fragments of memories, homeland, and desire that unfold like testimonies.
By combining material from O-shaped Songs with selected arias and monologues from Crime of Passion, the work creates a layered narrative where personal stories intersect with the historical and cultural context of the 'crime of passion'. Love appears not only as intimacy but also as something that is judged, romanticized, and sometimes punished.
Fluidly shifting between concert, storytelling, and theatrical ritual, the stage transforms into an archive of evidence. Songs become documents, confessions, and testimonies. The performer switches between the roles of singer, narrator, and storyteller, guiding the audience through a landscape of emotional and political tensions.
Songs from a Crime Scene is a portable and minimalist chamber opera for one voice. It invites the audience to a poetic and intimate exploration of love, law, and the continuous human search for home.
