It's time for variety theatre, with or without collapsing scenery. While everyone works flat out to keep the proverbial tent standing, the entertainment still has to go on. And as it turns out, together we pull the cart just a little further. Creaking and squeaking, we roll it onto the stage to keep glitter flying high together with you. We may not know much, but we do know one thing for sure: The Show Must Go On.
De Roze Bubbel is a platform for queer performing arts in the broadest sense. We offer space for expression, vulnerability, activism and humor, and bring a wide range of voices together on one stage. Our projects often take the form of queer variety shows, in which short acts follow each other in quick succession. The style is deliberately DIY, organized chaos, and full of recognition and alienation. In our bubble, safety stands alongside humor, and personal or social themes are not avoided but shared. We create encounters between makers and audiences with care for one another as fellow human beings.
(any pronouns) takes to the stage as a spoken word artist, musical performer, actor, and everything in between. With a sharp tone and the warmth of a blanket, they touch on the things that seem to remain unspoken. Glitter and glamour are essential too, because a little aesthetics does people good.
(die/hij) is a non-binary theatre maker, clown, teacher, and community builder. They want to celebrate queer joy and question social norms, especially around gender and migration. Expect live hide-and-seek, anecdotes about awkward or loving social interactions, and childlike games.
(zij/haar) is a theatre maker, cabaret performer, and songwriter. She sings about tiny shitty little dogs and a beautiful sunset, critiques absurd beauty ideals, and enjoys predictable romcoms. Punk, cabaret, comedy, and storytelling.
(zij/haar) leads this DIY circus with flair, humor, and her heart on her sleeve. As the evening's host, she brings chaos, spectacle, and show.
