This marks the fifteenth time the day is celebrated as a symbol of respect and acceptance for LGBTI+ children, youth, and professionals in education. Purple Friday, an initiative of COC, is dedicated to solidarity this year.

Alliance and solidarity are central to COC's Purple Friday campaign this year: by standing up for each other, you create space for others and ensure that everyone can be themselves, regardless of who you are, who you fall in love with, your skin color, or what you believe.
'With inspiring stories from our Purple Friday role models, we show how important it is for pupils, students, and professionals to be themselves at school. The Purple Friday campaign offers not only inspiration but also practical educational materials and conversation starters. This gives education professionals and GSAs (Gender and Sexuality Alliances), the clubs of LGBTI+ people and allies at school, the confidence and tools to discuss diversity and ensure their school is a safe place for everyone.'
