A Safe Space for Queer Expression
The Queer Poetry Nights are a series of events hosted to create a safe space for queer expression and encourage all queer voices to take the mic and share their literary work.
Most forms of literary expression are allowed, such as spoken word, poetry, op-eds, drama, and performances, as long as the speakers commit to a 10-minute maximum time per person.
Free community meals are available prior to the event from 17:30.
If you would like to share your texts or perform, you are welcome to do so. A few weeks before each event, an open call for performers is created to be part of the line-up. Every edition offers 5-6 spots, selected on a first-come, first-served basis. If the line-up is complete, you can choose to perform in the open mic section or get a spot in the next edition.
After the main line-up, there will be spaces for an open mic for writers and performers in the audience who feel inspired to share their work.
While freedom of speech is encouraged, the goal is to maintain a safe space where both speakers and the audience feel at home, nurtured, and safe. Any forms of hate speech or targeted attacks on a community, group, or individual are not allowed.
