The end of the year is unfortunately not the 'most wonderful time of the year' for everyone in our queer community. That's why Utrecht Queer Culture Festival is organizing something extra this year as a wonderful way to end the year together.
This afternoon, visitors can get completely into the Christmas spirit with a diverse program. There will be music from the Utrecht choir Cantate Zus & Zo, and in the theater hall, various short films provided by OUT TV and a Christmas special of the Dragshow CHERRIES will be shown. In the foyer and the outdoor area, there is plenty of space for meeting and socializing in a delightful Christmas atmosphere with Christmas trees, music, and lights. You can also find all sorts of treats there, such as fresh poffertjes and mulled wine.
You can also buy lottery tickets for the game 'Wheel me baby one more time' to win great prizes made available by many partners. The entire proceeds will go to the Queer X-mas charity.
Completely in the Christmas spirit, this event aims to raise as much money as possible for a good cause. The chosen charity is the Bessy Ferrera Emergency Fund from Hivos. Bessy Ferrera was a transgender activist from Honduras who was murdered in 2019. Her legacy lives on in the support this fund provides to activists worldwide. With financial and practical help, the fund ensures that these brave people have quick access to safe housing, mental support, and other essential resources.
Queer X-mas tickets cost €5.00 each (excl. fee). A ticket gives you access to the event, as well as a free coffee and a portion of freshly baked poffertjes.
