Authors Saskia de Coster and Teddy Tops will discuss their recent novels, focusing on themes of generations, queerness, and rewriting history. What happens when women finally tell their story, or when a new generation reshapes that story?
In The Last Session by Saskia de Coster, the story of Kristien, a seventy-five-year-old woman giving voice to a long-silenced past, unfolds in the private space of a therapy room. In Hedgehog Head, Teddy Tops brings two women from the post-war period out of the shadows and into the light, questioning what might have been possible if they had the opportunities available to women today. Both books touch on themes of silence and speech, visibility and hidden lives, taking control, and reinterpreting the past.
The conversation will be interspersed with short readings and will offer space for interaction with the audience. This Book Week afternoon is organized in collaboration with Singel Uitgeverijen.
